My name is Aishani Gupta, and I’m a historian of South Asia and the Indian Ocean world, with special focus on Islam & Sufisms, British empire and urban spaces. I trained at the History Department of SUNY Stony Brook (Stony Brook University) and received my doctorate in 2023. Since then, I have worked at several museums & art organizations in India, including the Calcutta home of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose and IMP ART.

Over the last decade, I have received several internal awards and grants including England’s Royal Historical Society Research Travel Award, the Charles Wallace India Trust Research Grant, and Stony Brook University Board of Trustees’ Dissertation Completion Endowed Fellowship, and have also been published internationally.
